Microtek scanner lamp won't move

By mellb61508 ·
My 3750i scanner (less than 1 yr old) has just stopped working. The lamp lights up but when I try to scan something it makes a funny noise (similar to what it would sound like if the lamp was in the locked position, but it is NOT)and the lampwillnotmove. I've turned it off/on, unplugged it and reinstalled the software. I have also contacted Microtek tech support twice but with no response.

Hi as it is, it sounds as if the transport mechanism has jammed ie the same as locked. You have 2 choices either open it up (assuming not under warranty) and check mechanism or to buy new. These days a Scanner is so low in price is it worth your time ?.

If this is a parallel port scanner, make sure that your printer is turned on.

I have had similar experiances with some scanner / printer combinations.

Thanks. I did get it to working again. I think the plug for the little motor that drives the belt was not seated fully. I did open it up since it was out of warrantyand did get it to working again. I was just irritated b/c I haven't had it that long and I rarely used it. Thanks for your help.
