Microtek Scanner Model X6eL won't detect

By rjs4you ·
I get error message that the scanner isn't detected when selecting "test". Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am running Win2k Pro. This scanner has a scuzzy connection. I bought an Adaptec Card and contacted Adaptec and they advised me that I need to install the driver ASPI. I went ahead and installed that prior to installing the scanner, but it still won't work.

Under "Host" I get the selection "still image device". How come my scanner won't work?

I have some possible solutions for you:

1. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for the SCSI card and install them.
2. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for the scanner and install them.
3. Make sure you are selecting the SCSI card it is attached to when installing the scanner drivers.
4. Turn the scanner on and allow it warm up before turning on the computer.
5. Make sure the SCSI card is not conflicting with any other devices. This is not likely with 2K Pro, but check to make sure.
6. Should your motherboard BIOS have a setting for PIC or APIC, choose the APIC setting.
7. Make sure that the SCSI cable is connected and that it is a good cable. Try connecting another external SCSI device to it and see if works.

I hope this helps.
