microtek scanner wont work

By gtor72 ·
I installed an I-jam mp3 player with a removable f-drive port, it connects to the same port as my printer and scanner, the printer will still work, but now my scanner will not work,,i get an error message saying please install scanner. I am thinkingit is because of the cable that came with the removable drive...because the cable runs through the scanner to the printer, hope someone can help me with this,,,

It's bad enough to have a printer and scanner on the same port. But to add a 3rd device, do you think that is a bit over kill ? For me, the solution would be to just buy another printer port and install the new device on it.

I hope that helps.Larry Hyman

the removable device for the mp3 player is made to hook into the printer port, it has a splitter in it to hook the printer into. its unavoidable that the scanner is also run off of this port too.....

Multiple parallel port devices on one port can be tricky, a good way to resolve the issues that can arise by forming chians is to instead use a switch. The Belkin Autoswitch is a good product that I have used and recomended many times. Specifically Belkin due to the fact that many devices simply will not work with any other brand, HP is famous for this.

Hope this helps
