By billzinn ·
Is there a method to migrate an existing NT4WS (SP6) installation to a new system with Win2000 Pro?

I just did it as an upgrade (with a reasonably reliable backup just in case) and had no problems.

Stick in the upgrade CD and go for it.

Undoudtedly, I hadn't made idea clear enough...
I'm not looking to "upgrade" to W2K... I need to retain the system with NT on it. What I need to do is to "migrate" all the security settings and user profiles to a NEW computer system which has W2K already installed on it. The configurations already in place on the NT system (used as a virtual "server" on a W98/NT 'peer-to-peer' network) would be pretty time consuming to duplicate. A much easier situation would be to "clone" or "migrate" the existing settings to the new, much faster system.

I have done this myself more than one time now on different customer computers.

Only once did I have a problem with a device driver and I just had to download the newest version.

Go for it.

Oh yes! The driver problem was a modem driver.
