Migrate Win2k server to new hardware.

By mkabus ·
I was wondering if anyone had any software suggestions for migrating a current windows 2000 server from old hardware over to new hardware without having to recreate all rights, printers and shares manually all over again. The box I am migrating is File and print server and it is starting to loose performance. Thanks in advance.

Quest sells a product called Server Consolidator that does exactly what you want.

It ain't cheap, but it does work very well.

Use your backup program to save the "System State" of your old server. Once you have set up your new server, just restore that "System State" and you should have the shares and users etc setup.
