Migrating AD server to blade

OK here’s what I’m doing: Inherited a network from the last Admin who left the company. While he was here we bought an IBM H class blade chassis and a pair of blades.

So the original project was to migrate our older AD and GC boxes over to the blades. My question is, what would be the best was to accomplish this?

I must admit that I’m scared to death of anything going awry, however my thoughts are: setup the new box, new name, promote it, force replication (maybe twice for good measure), then let ir run alongside the existing for a short time..week or two. Then I should be able to demote the old, then disjoin from the domain.

I’m sure I probably missed something, so please can anyone shed some light?
