Migrating from SBS 2003 SP1 to 2003 Standard R2

I’ve read just almost fifty articles about this topic but none seem to really work in a real world environment. We are currently running SBS 2003 SP1, which is also running our exchange. SBS 2003 has the 75 concurrent user limitation which is causing issues for us because we are doubling our organization size by the end of the year. Now I have 2003 Standard that I want to migrate all my users and computer accounts, but I can’t becuase when I run DCPROMO on the 2003 Standard I receive the following error.:

The operation failed because:

The Active Directory Installation Wizard cannot continue because the forest is not prepared for installing Windows Server 2003. Use the Adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain. For more information about using the Adprep, see Active Directory Help.

“The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer.”

So I run the adprep /domainprep /gpprep on SBS and everything looks fine until I go back to Standard and receive the same error message again.
