Migration to another domain *NEED HELP*

    Locked

    by shanghai sam ·

We are presently splitting departments onto different (NT) servers/domains, however what we’ve run into on a few test PC’s running WinNT/2000/XP is the USER PROFILE(s) on the original domain CORPDM1 gets “lost” when moved to the new domain CORPDM2. Wherein the users “My Documents” and local application settings/data (i.e. Outlook PST file) is only with the users CORPDM1 profile.

Is there a way to MIGRATE users PC’s to another domain without having to spend an hour coping user data from one profile to another? This was a simple task in Netware with a login script, but seems a complete mess with NT Server.

    Any help would be great!

    Thank you,

    Robert J. Guadagno
    Assistant Network Administrator

Technet article Q266083 talks about some NT Resource Kit tools that will migrate the accounts and folders and security permissions from one domain to another. All of these tools can be scripted to run in a big BAT file if you want.

      Hope this helps.

As I understand your problem there is no way of doing this, not with netware and not with NT. Since your problem involves mixed profiles for different OS. And not just migrating from one doamin to the other. Windows profiles are not interchangealbe with different versions of windows.
