MIN and MAX Applications from Taskbar.

By mdille ·
I have noticed while working in NT Workstation 4.0 that I am unable to Minimize and Maximize applications by clicking on the application in the taskbar. I can do this in Windows 95 and 98, and Windows 2000. Is there some hack to allow WinNt to be able to perform the minimize and maximize toggle from the taskbar??

Good question.. I don't think NT4 can do it the way 95,98,2K does it. However I know if you right click on the specific application's box on the taskbar, you can Minimize or Maximize at will. Not as simple as just clicking on the apps box but I think that might be the only way.

That behavior is a feature of the Windows Desktop Update installed by Windows 98, Windows 2000 and Internet Explorer 4 (by default) and Internet Explorer 5 (if selected by admin via IEAK).

Windows 95 and Windows NT 4 do not include the Windows Desktop Update by default, but it can be installed by installing Internet Explorer 4.x and answering Yes to the question about installing it, or by using the IEAK (ieak.microsoft.com) to create a custom version of Internet Explorer 5 containing the update. (You'll need to get a corporate, not ISP or ICP licence for the IEAK; IEAK licenses are free)
