While applying changes partition will some times boot to dos to perform some operations.
This is for Partition Magic 8.0
Install the 40 gig hard drive as a slave.
Boot to win98(c:\)
Start Partition Magic 8
You will see the partition for c: and d:
If there is a partition on the 40gig drive delete it.
Apply Changes. Wait till complete. Might require reboot.
If necessary start Partition Magic 8 again.
Drag the d: partition to the 40 gig drive.
Apply Changes. Wait tillcomplete. Might require reboot.
This will copy the d:(server 2000)partition to the 40 gig drive.
If necessary start Partition Magic 8 again.
Right Click on the 40 gig drive partition and select resize.
Drag the arrow or change the numbers to fill the free space. DO NOT MOVE THE PARTITION TO THE RIGHT IN THE PROCESS.
Apply Changes. Wait till complete. Might require reboot.
Once complete remove both drives and install the 40 gig as a master. Leave the 16 gig off the computer fornow.
Boot the machine into Server 2000 and verify Operation.
You can now install the 16 gig as a slave.
Then if you want to remove the old 2000 server partition on the 16 gig drive you can.
Then you could expand the win 98 partition to fill the 16 gig drive.
Hope this has helped.
