Mirror of drive C

By sedeka2 ·
My friend called me and asked if I knew what to do about his PC filling up the drive seemingly by itself.
I asked him if he had a Virus or something but I didn't know that much about XP and it's features.
He says that it looks like the PC is creating a mirror immage in the NetHood folder. Any Ideas?

It's almost certainly a virus, unless he is running a server on his box (IIS, Exchange are often culprits here). Sircam is notorious for this behavior.

On Windows XP, he would need to ensure he has access to updated virus software (preferably running from a read-only source, such as a CD-ROM), and run it on the box. Make sure to mention to him that he disables System Restore before doing so, as the virus may still lurk in there once an initial scan has been completed.

Good luck!
