I have a w2k server box that was in excellent running order. Decided to mirror drive 0 with drive 1 via MMC. Set up for dynamic disks, mirrored successfully. All was running well until the next restart. Upon restart now, BSOD appears and states “invalid boot device”. I disconnected both drives (SATA 80GB) and have them connected to a w2k pro box. They both come up as “failed” in the MMC / disk management. I have reviewed some info at MSFT tech net. It states that you can remove a mirrored drive and the one you remove would become unallocated space. Does that mean that if I do remove the mirror that the first disk would go back to bootable by itself? I would think there may be a problem with the boot.ini file? HOwever, I can not get to the disk to review the ini file. Remove mirror? Other suggestions please? Need to get this up and running asap. Thank God for daily backups!!
