Mirroring is having 2 hard drives 1 primary and 1 secondary. The primary drive will be cloned on the second drive. When setup, if 1 drive fails, you do not lose any data. Using Mirroring can improve HDD performance if setup correctly.
I am unsure of your OS, but NT 4.0, Win2k, and WinXP home/pro can be setup to mirror a drive from drive management in the administrative tools\computer management. Other Windows OS's I am unsure if they even provide support.
