Sounds like the Spooler service has stopped. If this service is not running, then your system will not know of any printers you had previously configured.
Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Services, and scroll down to Spooler. If it is Stopped, then click the Start button.
When it is Started, go back to your application and try to Print again.

hope this helps

This usually occurs when the spooler service on your computer crashes (for whatever reason). Usually, the spooler service will crash if you have a print job go bad or you get an error message during a print job. The problem is usually driver-related.

You can verify this by going to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services - scroll down until you see Print Spooler Service. If your printers have "disappeared," chances are the Print Spooler will not have "Started" in the Status column. Many times you can restart a stopped service by right-clicking it and choosing Start from the menu. Be advised that you need to be logged on with Administrator privileges to do this.

If this continues to happen, delet and reinstall the printerwith the latest drivers.

Another possibility. We had the same problem and found that it was caused by McAfee antivirus. The version we were using cause the printers in the printers to dissappear from the printers folder. If you have McAfee installed, then this could be the problem. What we learned from McAfee, was that we needed to changes some files.
These files were "Spool32.exe" and "spoolss.dll"
You will need to find these same files on a Windows ME system and copy them to your computer. (Note: I am assuming you are running windows 9x workstations.) If you are running Windows 2K pro, then the problem may be something else. This is just an Idea to check out. Best of Luck
