Missing boot disk

By irovambira ·
Greetings to all. I have a problem with my computer. After turning on the pc it loads windows 7 without any problem. Restarting windows I get missing boot disk press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart. After some time windows loads. Going into the BIOS sometimes the 500GB SATA drive is missing but in other instances it is present. Please can you help me so that the BIOS recognise the drive correctly during bootstrapping

thank you

Replace the SATA Cable

by TheChas In reply to Missing boot disk

The most likely problem here is an intermittent SATA data cable.

Buy a high quality SATA data cable and replace the cable in your computer. That should correct the problem.

A friend of mine suggest using only right angle SATA data cables as he has had too many of the straight data cables fail.

And while you are at it

I would check the HDD with it's makers Test Utility to confirm correct function. While it is most probably the Data Lead it's just possible that the Drive could be having problems.

You can get your HDD Makers Testing Utility from their Web Site generally listed under the Support heading or maybe here depending on it's maker.
