Missing CD Erase XP

By elwin9 ·
While in My Computer when you select your CD there are no featurs for erasing or writing to the CD. Any ideas where this can be switched back on. There is no Recording TAB in properties for the CDRW Device. The burner is a 52X32X52X CDRW. This system has never been on the internet, or networked.

For CD recording you need XP Home or XP Pro. To erase CDs you need to install UDF packet writing software. The Recording tab is available on my computer, properties of the CDRW drive (NOT Device Manager).

Hi

Have you tried selecting the files you want to burn, then copying them to the CD drive. You can do this by right-clicking the file to burn and selecting Send To, then choosing the CD drive.

When you next access the drive via My Computer you should be prompted that there are files waiting to be written to the drive... and off you go.

I think that if you have CD writing software installed this feature is disabled. Make sure you have uninstalled any 3rd party software before trying this.

Good luck
