MIssing Dll files

By mspillane ·
I had to reinstall Win2000 because of a Stop message and now cannot access any of my applications as they cannot locate their respective Dll files. Is this a registry probkem and how do I resolve it?

Yes, I do believe it is a registry problem. I had this issue when trying to access Office form Windos Advanced Server because I installed it under 2000 Professional (Dula booting). I just re-installed the applications in the same location, withthe same options.

Did you you a new install or a repair? If you did a new install you received a new SID and GUI for the server. This is a portion of your problem. A backup of the system could solve this problem.

Is this server in an Active Directory domain? If you have you made apps available under Active Direcotry (Assigned?) if so, the AD should be able to find and repair the apps.

If you go to the actual direcotry on the server, can you launch the app properly? If so, it is a link file issure and can be corrected within the registry.

If you do not have an abundance of applications, re-instlling might be the quickest way toresolve the issue.
