Missing IE address bar

By william.dubois ·
I have a computer that recently lost the address bar in internet explorer. I went through the basic steps of going to View, Toolbars, address bars it shows it as installed and expanded all of the tool bars to see if it was hidden. I have also ran a XP toolbar fix program and still no luck. As a last ditch effort I copied the regestry keys for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer and still no tool bar. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Hi William

Please try this and let me know

To change the toobar setting, use the following steps:

1. From Internet Explorer, click View and then select Toolbars.

2. See if Address Bar was checked. Try unchecking and re-checking.

3. Check to see if Address Bar is in upper right-hand corner and greyed
out.

4. Right-clicked on Address, unlock the toolbar.

5. Left-click on Address and drag the Address bar to the position
desired. May have to move the address bar up or down to show icons.

Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
To change the registry, use the following steps:
1. Click on start and go to run and type "regedit" and press OK.

2. Navigate to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Toolbar

3. Remove the WebBrowser key.

4. Open IE or Explorer and the toolbar defaults should be restored.
From Internet Explorer, click View and then select Toolbars.

Try deleting the WebBrowser registry key.

In the registry:
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
- Right-click the WebBrowser key, click Delete and then click Yes.
- Open Internet Explorer, click View and then select Toolbars. The toolbar defaults will be restored.
- You may have to unlock the toolbar and drag it down to show what is missing but usually you would't have to for the address bar. (The Link bar would require this after enabling it from the View menu)
