Help! I don't know what I could've done but when I open Word I am missing the menu bar at the top of the page. I tried everything from trying to use the keyboard shortcuts to uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2000 disk 1 and 2. I also replaced the NORMAL.DOT file. What could it be? And what can I do to fix it.

pardon me if this is dumb, but do your other office applications show *their* menu bars?
you could try this: open Word pick tools/customize hightlight the 'standard' entry (should also be checked) pick reset (bottom right) highlight 'formatting' (should also be checked) pick reset
I should have mentioned that the menu bar were present when opening Excel and the other office apps - however it is not possible to pick tools because all I get is the blue bar up top and the document nothing else - hitting 'alt F' to get to File orin the case of Tools 'alt t' doesn't do anything. Thanks for trying
From the menu select View->Toolbars and select the menu you are missing. Standard and Formatting are most common. You can move menus where you want them by dragging them with your mouse.
Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough but I could't get to any menu - all I got was the blue bar at the top and the rest of the page was the actuall document - However, what I wound up doing was creating another user account for the user on this Win2K Workstation. When I logged on as the new user everything came back - it must have been something corrupt in the original user profile.
