Missing menu in Windows 2000

By pcammuso ·
My workstation is running Windows 2000 Professional. The search option in the Start menu is inoperative. If I select it from there or the pop-up menu in Explorer it does nothing. What could be causing this?

HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Locate the NoFind value in the right pane, right click it select Modify and change the value to 00000000 or 00 00 00 00, depending on whether its a Dword or Binary value.

I went to several machines and looked att his registry key, and the NoFind key does not exist. Do I have to create it, and if so what is theexact key name.

It's called NoFind
Try downloading TweakUI. That might be an easier way to get it back.

Tried downloading and this did not work either. We have since
rebuilt the machine. Thanks for the effort.
