Missing Operating System error

By firstclasspc ·
I have an HP omnibook Laptop. I turn on the Laptop after succesfully using it before and the error came up missing OS. When I check the BIOS the laptop was not recognizing the hard drive. The only way I could get the systenm to work is to remove all power source ( battery and AC) then it recoqnizes the hard drive and boot up succesfully. This is happening quiet often, which is very annoying. What do you guys think is the problem, could it be the HDD going bad?

most likely the cmos battery is almosy out of juice. I don't know the lifetime of the battery for a laptop. for pc's it's +_ 3 years (depends of lots things of course )

Check with a hp dealer.

Yes suspect is definately cmos battery, omni books have extremely heavy drain on cmos battery at boot. Evan main battery is under heavy drain at boot. Logic dictates that cmos battery should be uneffected but testing proves otherwise! Replace cmos battery and load test your main battery replace main battery too if it fails load testing.
