    Missing Pagefile.sys

    Locked

    by kaptandrews ·

User on WinXP Pro in a Domain. They are getting a ‘vitual memory low’ when running Excel. I looked at Task Mgr and the virtual memory used by Excel is no where near say…Lotus or Symantec.

How can I recreate the pagefile. I set it to none, rebooted the system, then set it to custom but it never creates the file again. HDD is in two partions and the pagefile is not on either one.

Does the registry control the creation of the pagefile? If this is the case, why would I see virtual memory being used at all?

Right Clicked “My Computer”, clicked the “Properties”, then clicked open the “Advanced” Tab? There is the box labeled “Performance” where you can set your preferance for the Vertual Memory (again under “Advanced” tab). I would say for a trial increase it by 500Mb at first and see if that makes a difference. Also above the “Virtural Memory” Paging file settings, I would recoment the “Programs” box be checked under “Memory Usage”. -d
