Mitigate DoS attacks with rate limits

By debate ·
Has your organization ever been hit by a DoS or DDoS attack? If so, how did you respond? Do your network routers contain rate-limiting features? Tell us what measures your organization has in place to protect against the proliferation of DoS attacks, as featured in this week's Internet Security Focus e-newsletter. Then, tell us how helpful this column was to you by rating it from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest.

DOS Attacks can cause headache

by RWalter In reply to Mitigate DoS attacks with ...

I have worked at an organization for longer than I would like to mention, but during my time here I have noticed instances where DOS attachs from outside people have caused our network to sometimes come to a complete stop. After running a trace back to the source of where we believed these DOS attachs were coming from we were undecided on whether or not to get the Law enforcement involved. Instead we just handled it ourselves but left the threat there still that we would if this kept up. We have not had any issues since this occurence but if faced with this again I would probably would get the Law involved.
