Mixed Mode network latency

I’m running an NT 4 network with 1 PDC, 1 BDC 2 member servers, all on the same local network segment. I recently added a new NT 4 Server as BDC, promoted to PDC, then upgraded to Win2K server. The old network used WINS for name resolution, Win2K added DNS to the mix. The upgrade ran without incident, but now Win2K/XP clients are experiencing excessive latency, and some dropped network connections. Rejoining the domain on these clients seems to improve some of the symptoms, but for the mostpart not.

Is there anything obvious I’m missing that would cause this issue, or do I just have to gut it out and upgrade all the servers and get to native mode asap?
