I have been at this business for a bit now, yet even I find myself being fooled occasionally. If you did in fact purchase a retail version of the Operating System, it comes with MS Support. Unfortunately, your wording leaves a bit to be desired in assuring me of that. You received no warning messages regarding files that could not be copied during the installation? Would help to know also what version of Windows 7 you have as well as what licensing scheme. OEM, VLA, Retail, etc. Does your media have the MS Hologram on it? As far as I know, there are no legitimate downloadable versions sold by MS except for those with an MSDN subscription.

It would appear that you are speaking of a new installation. Nonetheless, I would run a scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on it just to be sure. If you get any hits and this is indeed a new install, you know right off you have a pirated version.

Plug “fixwin.exe site:thewindowsclub.com” this into a google search window, I can’t guarantee it will resolve your issue but it does address the problem within the application and offers a fix for it.
