modem

When I am installing modem I got message that one moedm.dll file is missing.Then I went to control panel & there is no modem icon.In Control panel we can't delete modem icon.How to get that modem icon with of reinstalling?

You could try going to "add new hardware" then clicking NEXT then telling windows not to search for the new hardware. Then select modem for the type of hardware, choose do not detect I will select from a list, choose have disk and then navigate to your modem drivers. If it can find the modem, it should set it up for you. Make sure to run the diagnostics on it afterward...

You *don't* want to remove the modem icon in the control panels. You can, however, double click on it to open it, then select the modem in that window and Remove it there.

Take out the modem and restart the pc. go into control panel, system, device manager and see if the modem is listed here. If it is delete it. reboot the pc. Shut down. install modem card. Turn on the pc and the plug and play should pick it up. If it doest goto add hardware and add it from here.

Make sure that you have dial up networking installed. Go to add/remove programs, windows setup
