I have installed a U S Robotics 56K modem Pci Fax Modem for 95,98 and 2000 and the installation was successfull. Something happened later on with my system that caused me to have to reinstall my operating system. I then tried to reinstall my modem and I’m given a error of 692 hardware failure. I have checked all cables, physically removed the modem and replaced it to make sure it was seated correctly, uninstalled and reinstalled the modem, checked IRQ conflicts, returned the modem to the store got a new one of the same kind and still the same response. Can you shed more light on the subject.
