Modem approved by AUSTEL

By milorad ·
I have an IBM ThinkPad with an internal modem. All bought in Australia. Modem is approved by AUSTEL.

Does anybody know if I can use this modem in Europe, specifically France or UK - without any alterations or additions?

Do the french and british telecom connectors fit into a modem used in Australia?

Yes the modem is OK for France & UK but you will need RJ11 adapters to country connectors. Have a look a teleadapt or buy the adapters when you arrive. Also make sure you have the IBM utility installed to set up the country. If not then you may have to switch off the dial tone detection. Have a nice trip and bring an overcoat!
