modem issue with NT4.0

By computersanjuans ·
Hello,
I have tried to install a new modem, several times in a variety of 'hopes and dreams' to no avail!!!!!!!
RAS is configured with the modem, their are no conflicts, the driver is installed from the CD manufacturer and recent yet I still get a host of errors when trying to use it to dial (which is set to dial and accept both in RAS)I get the 692 error no modem etc. . I have uninstalled and re-installed multiple times. . .
Please help with any suggestions. . .
P.S. I assume the PCI slot should be configured with 'master'in the bios . . but how come all of the four slots can be configured with the same 'master' ability together or individually. . . I have tried it in many different configurations and still no help there either.
Thank you again in advance!!
I have tried all suggestions that I have seen here and Technet. . . still nothing

I have found a few Tech Net Articles in the March 2001 Tech Net CD which I'll email to you 'cause they won't fit here.

They may or may not be helpful

check your service pak version, you want 4 or
6a. Also check your CMOS setting, assuming the modem is internal you need to disable one or both of your on board com ports, then reinstall modem for whichever you disabled. NT is particular about usingcom1 and com2 for modems. good luck
