I have this friend who uses win95 who can’t get his
modem to connect. I went over, ran modem diagnostics
and it said that it “cannot communicate with modem,
make sure it is plugged in or turn it off”. The phone
line is fine. I switched the modem to a different ISA
slot, same problem. There are no conficts in the
device manager. On the surface everything appears to
be fine. I unisntalled the modem and put in a known
working one and its still the same problem.
I uninstalled and reinstalled dialup networking.
Sometimes it will occasionally connect to the phone
line, sometimes it won’t. It appears that after you
hang up, you have to wait a couple of minutes before
your able to connect again.
If anyone has any soutions to this problem I will
greatly appreciate it, because I’m frustrated to the
point of shunning technology and becoming amish. ; )
