Picture on monitor drops to half size(virticale) and reverts to normal on and off
Monitor? or Graphics card? Win98,Nvidia 400,AMD K6-400cpu

Probably the monitor. Swap it with another to see if the problem persists.

Problems with the video card tend not to correct themselves... the longer it is left on the greater the problem.

Problems with display sizes, colors usually have to do with heat, dust and just age of the monitor components. Try blowing it out with a can of air when it does this, and it may correct itself for a very limited time.

#1 answer is may be right but, I have a question, Is that occur when Windows load, or it's occur once you ON your Computer. If that is occur in Windows it a display card and its driver may be you misconfigure that. But if it is occur once you Power on, Go on Follow the step in answer#1 Swap it!

Hi try to set to a different refresh rate it may be close to another video standard making the monitor resize the picture.

If you tap the monitor on top, do you see a diff. in size. If so, you have a dry joint in the vertical stage on the monitor.

If not, there may be a prolem in the vertical stage.

This sounds like a monitor problem and not a graphics card.
