    Monitor a SCSI card?

    Locked

    by bes7252 ·

I’d like to monitor the data flow on across my SCSI card in NT 4.0. I couldn’t find any options in Performance Monitor. Did I miss something?

Or is there a different way to do this?

    Thanks.

When u are on Perf.Monitor, ckicking on the “+” button to add counter, it will display you Add Chart window where u can select the Physical Disk Oject. The drop down window for Counter, u have 18 options of what to monitor. If u have multiple drive, select which one you’d monitor

      Hope this helps!

I couldn’t find anything on Physical Disk. Perhaps Logical disk?

You can’t directly measure the performance of the SCSI card itself, only the overall performance of the disk subsystem. All of the measurements used by Performance Monitor are obtained at the host/drive interface so you can’t directly separate out bottlenecks on the card from those on the drive. However, what you can measure is available under the Logical Disk Object.

Also, keep in mind that Performance Counters themselves use up CPU cycles so it is usually better to make sure you turn them off after you have the data you need.

      regards!
