Monitor Compatibility W/ PC's and Mac's

By blackcb ·
I am in the process of assisting my wife's employer with selecting a new PC and doing the data transfer for her outdated Mac. In the interim, to try and save her eyes (She has a 13" viewable screen), I have recommended that they go ahead and get a 19" CRT monitor. Are monitors these days compatible with both PC's and Mac's. I have read that the newer Macs have an adapter that makes most monitors incompatible with them. Thanks for your time.

Monitor Compatibility W/ PC's and Mac's

Current generation Apple computers such as the Power Macintosh G4 and the G4 Cube come with a new video connector called ADC (Apple Display Connector).

Is the Mac that you are transering from a newer or older Macintosh? You may have to look intogetting a USB Conversion cable or something similar. Are you looking at putting a Brand new 19" CRT monitor onto a New Mac that the files are getting transfered to? PC Monitor---->New Mac?

If so, you may have to get a Video Adapter that is going to convert that standard 15-pin male serial connector at the end of the monitor cable to this new standard (ADC), so that it will plug right into the back of this new Mac that your wife will eventually have.

Good Luck!
