monitor resolution

using windows 98 os and a plug n play monitor can you force/command to a particular resolution(800x600). the video controller is integrated into the motherboard.the monitor is set at 640x480 and I can not get it to change!!!

you'll want to visit the manufacturer of the motherboards website and make sure you install the latest video driver

First download the latest driver,for the supported operating system,download driver and load

Now riggt-click on any open space on desk top,select Properties and select the Settings tab,if the driver has been downloaded properly you can adjust the slider to desired resolution

If your video is integrated, you may not have enough memory to display @ 800x600 using the color depth you have selected. Try reducing the color settings first, then re-size the resolution.

Look in Device Manager, do you have any Yellow ? or REd ones?
Do you have a PCI Bridge controller. If not you may need to install a Chipset Driver, also from motherboard amnufacturer. While you are there check for a newer BIOS update also.
