Monitor, the image on the screen

By zlitocook ·
Will slide to the right by itself. No programs started, just user logged in. Even logged in as local Admin. the windows image will slide to the right and leave a black edge about three inches there. If I hit auto correct it will fix it but it will happen awhile latter.
HP desktop computers, new P4, 512MEM, 80Gb hd, XP Pro sp2, all the updates. Acer fp monitors, this only happens on one computer so far.
Any ideas about why this happens? I can give user a different computer but have not tried to yet.

Is it possible that you have a messed screen? Meybe the user hit it a little hard? Try replacing it with another screen from another computer. Might help, might not, but worth a try.

The problem is one of two things.. either the display or the display adapter.

Simple test. Swap the monitor with one on another machine. If the problem moves with the monitor, then your monitor is damaged, otherwise if the problem stays with the computer, the video adapter is damaged.

Depending on the age of the computer and monitor, check out warranty as this type of problem would be covered, provided the warranty is still in effect for the device.

Hi

Have you also tried manually adjusting the position of the screen image using the menu, rather than relying on the autofit function? Also, you do not say, but have you checked that the video adaptor and the monitor are both correctly identified in Device Manager, and that both have up-to-date drivers?

Good luck
