Monitor Trouble

By litlhlpr ·
My roomate was vacuming the other day and bumped into the table (metal legs) that my system was on. The monitor blacked out, and now I can't get it to come on. Is it fried?

Monitor Trouble

Do you hear a static electricity type sound when you attempt to turn the monitor on?

If yes, then the monitor is working, the video connection is bad.

Start by checking that ALL cables and connections are fully seated.

Try a different monitor on your PC, and try your monitor on a different PC.

Unless the monitor is very large, new, or an LCD type, it will be cheaper and easier to buy a new or used monitor than to determine how or why it failed.
I have seen brand new 17" flat screenmonitors (not flat panel) for just over $100.

Thanks, TheChas

You're right. I bought a similar monitor for about $100. When and if I have time I'll figure out the problem with the other.
