    Monitoring network

    Hi,

    Can someone suggest me a good tool for monitoring network please? Specifically I would like to monitor bandwidth consumption, internet usage etc

      I use or have used these:
      Nagios
      Cacti
      NMIS
      JFFNMS

      Monitoring bandwidth is easy. Depending on what you mean by “usage”, a proxy server might be what you need.

        you can get free trials
        and restrict porn, gambling sites, etc.

      what kind of bandwidth monitoring do you need? are you a home user, a lan administrator or a network professional ? If you want to monitoring bandwidth of your home systems, you can check if your gateway devices supports SNMP, or if you are using some windows based internet sharing , bandwidth monitor like DU meter or AnalogX can help you.
