Monitoring Windows wtih Nagios-SNMP

By Nicolas Solop ·
Hi all,

I'm need to setup a linux box with nagios in order to use it to monitor some windows servers with SNMP.
I've followed several howto's but none seems to work for me. All documentation that I found is different from each other.
The idea is to be able to monitor processor and memory usage, disk space without using the nagios client.

If you have an idea of how to do this, please let me know. I have been working on this for weeks.

Thanks in advance.

Have you lookup the microsoft MIB from:

http://www.mibdepot.com/

And from there you can derive what oid you need
for the various items. Using a tool like
snmpwalk should also be a great help to preview
values you get.

AFAIK all performance counters are available
over SNMP.
(btw, the snmp service should be started, and
should be configured so you can ask questions
from you nagios system.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for your response, I already know wich OIDs I need and also getting responses from the windows servers using SNMPWalk from the command line.
The problem that I'm facing is that I don't know how to tell nagios to ask the servers about memory and processor usage and then get the responses to the nagios console.

Thanks again.

In that case are you aware of:

http://nagios-snmp.sf.net/
???

Look for check_snmp_win files.
