More remote desktop

By shooten2 ·
I'm trying to use remote desktop to access my office pc (running XP Pro) from my home pc (running XP Home). I have a laptop (also on XP Home) that I take home from work, and I can use remote desktop on it without any problem. I've configured remote desktop on my home pc using the same settings as my laptop, but I can't get it to connect. The laptop connects using the office's internal network address. I've tried setting my home desktop up to connect to that internal address, and I've also tried using the network's static external (gateway) address - neither setup will work. Any ideas as to what I'm missing here?

Does your laptop have a VPN client that allows it to connect through into your work network?

The first thing what you need is create a VPN connection to your office?s network. After this you can connect remotely to your office?s computer. If you need more help I can send you via e-mail documentation about how can you do this.

Thanks for your help... VPN is set up on my laptop, but I didn't even think of that as being part of the remote desktop configuration... I should be able to connect my home pc now...
