Well assuming that this is a running computer

by OH Smeg In reply to motherboard ID and info

You can use an application like Belarc Adviser available for download here

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

This will tell you the Make & Model of the M'Board as well as the Amount of RAM used.

As for the type of RAM that you need you can either read the M'Boards User Manual or if it is an Off the Shelf System go to one of the Memory Makers Web Sites and enter the Computers Details and be shown what type and Amount of RAM they have available for this computer

No need to install CPUZ

by Jacky Howe In reply to motherboard ID and info

Download CPU-Z and extract it to a folder. Read the instructions.

Run cpuz.exe and click on About and under Tools you will see HTML Dump, click on it and save the current configuration.
