motherboard identification

By Gartravis ·
I'm trying to identify the motherboad in a computer that was given to me. The only ID I can find on it is "VX97". I'm trying to figure out if I can upgrade to a faster processor without buying a new motherboard. It now has a 266Mhz AMD.

You can also search for SANDRA on download.com. It's a great little program that identifies your hardware to a T. It's especially handy for identifying knock-off memory...

You may also want to try Wim's Bios (www.wimsbios.com). It's a very useful site that's crammed full of motherboard and BIOS upgrade information.
Good Luck!,

You must power on the cpu, after the memory count, down in the screen appear a long alphanumeric number, the last number is the model of the Mother, for example TXPRO, 748MTR, etc.
