Motherboard Problems

By eraser3498 ·
I'm having a problem getting my computer to boot. All the LED's come on but the comoputer won't display anything. No beep codes sound. THis led me to the cpu but it works fine in another computer with the same motherboard. Video and ram also work inthat computer. Power outputs the voltage. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix this problem or is the motherboard dead.

Have you verified the system speaker wire is plugged in? If everything is plugged in and you are positive everything is compatible, don't waste any more time - replace it.

1. Tripple check all jumpers.

2. Go through the CMOS memory reset proceedure.
(make sure to put the jumper back to "normal"

3. Make sure the video card is fully seated.
The best way to do this, is to remove the bracket so that there is nothing to stop the card from seating all the way.
(It only takes a few 1/1000" to make an AGP card not function.)

4. Verify that nothing is shorting out between the motherboard and the case.

5. Strip the system back to a minimum configuration(CPU RAM video) and see if it posts.
If so, add in 1 device at a time to locate the conflicting device.

If none of the above helps, then it is likely the motherboard.
