Mouse Move Disconnects DSL Modem

by puterwiz49 . Updated 24 years, 7 months ago

I have an issue with my internal LAN.
Here is my equipment run-down.
1 server running 2000 Advanced Server connected to LAN for authentication and connected to DSL for internet sharing using MS Proxy version 2 with SP2. I have 3 other workstations running Win2k Professional authenticating into the server for LAN access and internet access. 1 particular machine is a Dell, and the rest are Compaq machines.
The Dell is set to power off the monitor after about 45 minutes or so. If I were to move the mouse to wake the PC, it completely disconnects me from the internet in the fact that I have to turn off the DSL modem and turn it back on again to regain access. I have tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew on the server but it will not pull a new IP address from the ISP. I have to literally shut down the DSL modem and power it back up again. Any clues as to what may be causing this issue on that Dell box?
