Mouse not working

by evelyn . Updated 17 years, 4 months ago

Hi, Everyone:

I have a computer sitting here but am not able to use a mouse! The PS/2 one is not working (have tried several difference mice, restarting the computer with each change – none work. Have also uninstalled through Device Manager on several occasions. This started a couple of days ago.

I’ve tried 3 usb mice, and they are not working either. I do get the message that new hardware was found, but never get the message that they are ready for use.

I’ve inserted a usb drive into the usb slots, and that is recognized and works fine. But not the mice!

Device Manager shows the yellow triangle/excl point for the PS/2.

We were getting lots of disk error messages posted in the Event Viewer/System in Admin Tools: “The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block”, but a dskchk seems to have taken care of that. Also done a defrag – not sure why. But still no mouse movement.

Any ideas/explanations would be appreciated.
