mouse problem

By misterbill63 ·
I am having problems with my mouse. every now and again the pointer jumps to the corner of the screen. This only happens with optical mice and not with ball mice. I have a solid blue mouse mat and have connected the mouse via usb and ps2.I have tried three optical mice on this computer and they all do the same thing. I am running windows xp sp2.

Thanks in advance Bill

A few things to try, could you try it without the pad? Also check the mouse setting in the control panel, maybe it is setup to be ultra sensitive.

Hope this helps!

For Optical Mice I find the Teflon Mats better as they don't seam to give the same problems that the older Mouse Mats that where designed for Ball Mice give with the pointer jumping around at unexpected times. As the above poster suggested try it without the Mouse Mat to see if the problems persist. I've also found that they tend to work better when connected to the PS2 Port rather than a USB Port as the USB Drivers are loaded latter.

Definately try a more reflecting material mouse pad. I've found that dark sleek mouse pads create the same problem as you have described. After replacing the mouse pad with a better reflecting pad always solves the problem.

I say making sure the drivers for the optical mice are updated for that OS.
