move from 56kb to Broadband for internet

by jag . Updated 23 years, 3 months ago

I am currently trying to make sense of how to change our current modem router connection to the internet from 56k to broadband. Installing the new router is easy stuff and hooking it up to the server via the switch is also straight forward. The problem lies when I try to assign an IP address to the new adsl modem router and give it 2 new DNS server addresses provided to me by our ISP. When I hook up the new adsl modem router all the test signals are fine it is just to get internet working on the server is a problem hence also internet on all workstation is a problem. The server has a second network card for Internet and this internet network card has it’s own ip addresses and dns addresses. The question is how do I get to talk to the new modem router once connected and give it our ISP’s specified ip and dns server addresses and whether or not I have to change ip and dns addresses on the current internet network card???

Hope to hear from you soon,
Jag.
