My aim is too move our companys storage areas to a different server as the current one is quite full. At the moment the data area sits on a 10gb SCSI RAID5 volume, what i want to do is move it to a IDE RAID5 75 GB Volume (costs were the decision here!). The problem im facing is how can i move the current data areas (lots of folders basically) yet keep all their permissions when i transfer them to a different server. Also can any of you see a problem with switching to an IDE RAID 5 system, so far its been used an an intranet server so its very little used.
