Move Server Wizard

By rteo30 ·
Exch Server v5.5 sp3 ( on Home system )
After the Move Server Wizard ran ( goal is to rename the only organization Name ), I found that it created new X.400 and SMTP address on each of the users' email address. The old one were still remianed there. Wonder if I did a live Mover Server, can the users be able to recieve email from out side world? Does the Mx record change?

Move Server Wizard

I have not had that experience, but if the old SMTP name is still there on the mailbox, presumably it still lives in the dir.edb database and there should be no need to change the MX DNS record.

But I am curious about the new SMTP entries. How did they differ from the original addresses?

For example:
new SMTP eng1@Cool.WAN.com
old smtp eng1@Cool.LAN.com
old smtp eng1@mycompany.com
new X.400
c=US;a= ;p=WAN;o=Cool;s=1;g=Engineer;
old X.400
c=US;a= ;p=LAN;o=Cool;s=1;g=Engineer;
created X.500
/o=LAN/ou=HotRecipients/en=Engineer..
