Moving a user profile

My default user profiles on clients are faulty but have one 'clean' machine. How do I get the default from the clean to the dirty machines? I'm fairly sure there are registry issues here.

I believe you can just copy all the data from the good profile to the appropriate location on the bad machine.

I have never come accross any registry issues doing this. Simply right click "My computer" on the good machine, choose "properties". Select the "User Profiles" tab. Highlight the profile you want to copy. Click the "copy to" button. Another window will appear. Browse to the bad machine directory to which you want to copy the profile. (be sure to add the userid as the last directory level, or simply use unc conventions eg: \\machine name\c$\documents and settings\userid. Next go to the "permitted to use" box and choose the correct user id to access the profile. Click "OK" and you should be fine. I have never tried doing this with the default user profile, but it should work the same. Hope this helps
