Moving a WIN2000 hard disk to another PC

By turki76 ·
I noticed that moving a hard disk on which WIN2000 is already installed is not straight forward! So, what is the best way (in steps) to move it safely with no undesired effects and changes?

Moving a WIN2000 hard disk to another PC

by montea7 In reply to Moving a WIN2000 hard dis ...

In my case my raid controller died today. I relocated the drive to the standard IDE started Win2k and went to the recovery console. I ran listsvc...located my raid driver and using disable hpt3xx2k disabled the raid driver. Exited the recovery console and booted, Win2k detected the hardware and installed asking for a reboot. No problems.

In your case if Win2k gives the inaccessible boot device, then use the aboce procedure to locate your specific driver and disable it.
